When your the best of friends…

Having so much fun together
You’re not even aware, you’re such a funny pair
You’re the best of friends…

Life’s a happy game
You could clown around forever
Neither one of you sees, your natural boundaries
Life’s one happy game

If only the world wouldn’t get in the way
If only people would just let you play
They say you’re both being fools
You’re breaking all the rules
They can’t understand, the magic of your wonderland

When you’re the best of friends
Sharing all that you discover
When that moment has past, will that friendship last?
Who can say? There’s a way!
Oh I hope… I hope it never ends
‘Cause you’re the best of friends

Anyone know those lyrics?  Disney’s Fox and the Hound (if your feeling nostalgic, there is the link for the Disney sing-a-long for the song)!  Granted, we’re talking two pit bulls, but that could work, right?  The media says these guys, two male pitbulls, aren’t supposed to get along.  They are in fact supposed to rip each other apart right?  Well that’s all BS and these two… well they are frick and frack.  Or Todd and Copper (fox and hound, for you non-Disney folks).  I don’t know how sad they’ll be when they can’t snuggle up together, but that time may be coming soon.  Buddha is meeting his potential new mama tomorrow.  We’ll see how it goes.  But we’re already sad about the idea of him leaving us….

Until then…. let the Best of Friends carry on… (and continue to change all those ignorant stereo types)…

  1. Okay the paw-holding photo and that last photo are PRICELESS! I love it! 🙂 Turk and Ginger have recently started using the other’s behind as a pillow on the couch. It’s pretty adorable….I love it!

  2. O.K. – I have to say this. These two guys are soul mates and should be together. What’s one more canine child?

This was a great blog – they are peas in a pod.

    Knox’s Aunt Carol

  3. Trust me Carol, we’ve thought about it. One more canine to us, means one more dog to board when we travel and it would mean the end of fostering for us city-dwellers. A second dog is in our future, just not yet. We are committed to fostering a bit longer. I’ll post on that later… but trust me it is a hard decision.

  4. This is so interesting- our Chick also prefers boy dogs. Everybody makes such a fuss about same-sex pairs being a bad idea, but ALL of his best buddies are other males. Dogs are individuals, and each one has his or her own preferences!

We went through this with Gonzo Bunny-Ears. He and Chick became BFF very quickly, and it was hard to let him go. But like you, we love fostering and if we kept a second dog, that would be the end of it — no more lives saved.

Be strong! Your efforts will be compensated in the satisfaction of seeing more dogs go on to their new, perfect lives.

    • Thank you for the motivation, Aleksandra… I need it today! Going to miss this boy…
But that is exactly why we will not be keeping him… more lives saved. (Mental note: Repeat Matra hourly till BuddhaMan is gone… )

  5. so cute and you and B (and Knox) are so good for these pups. But, did I hear you say there is a second canine in your future? Mmm – not what “Grandma Charlene” wants to hear!
